Repertoire

The stories Francis tells are drawn from Irish mythology, folklore, history and include a few that he has written himself. They are populated by heroes and villains, fairies and folklore, yarns about local Monaghan characters, saints, sinners and include border tales of smuggling and other goings on! Rhymes and riddles also feature and tales are told in an easy going and engaging style because “life’s too short for a long face!”

Background / Experience

Francis has been involved in storytelling for close to forty years and is a committee member of the Storytellers of Ireland. He is a founder member of the Drumlin Yarnspinners group and the Drumlin Storytelling Festival, in association with Monaghan County Libraries.
Francis is Storyteller in Residence for Monaghan County Council and has featured for many groups and festivals - including the Cape Clear International Festival. He has facilitated intergenerational storytelling events on peacebuilding projects, is a Fáilte Ireland Regional Tour Guide (as well as an ATGI member) and is registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland.
